The city, which is divided into 23 districts, is separated into two halves by the Danube - the hilly district of Buda and the flat Pest in the east. The two halves of the city are joined by eight bridges.
The construction project is in the direct vicinity to the pedestrian zone.

Váci utca and its side streets, which were designed as a pedestrian zone in the 5th district in Pest, are the main shopping centre in Budapest although pedestrians tend to concentrate on the section north of Szabad sajtó út.
